Remington announced last week that it would be joining Mossberg and others in the “short shotgun” market.

The Remington 870, one of the most popular shotguns of all time, is now available with a non-NFA 14″ barrel.

Model 870 Tac-14 has a bulbous pistol grip very similar to Mossberg’s 14″ Shockwave, pump action, solid steel milled receiver, and has an overall length under 27″.

The suggested MSRP is sitting around $443, which is comparable to the Shockwave.

Remington debuted their latest shotgun at the annual NRA convention in Atlanta, Georgia.

According to the National Firearms Act, this weapon is regulated as a “firearm” not a short-barreled rifle and therefore does not require a tax stamp.

While the 870 Tac-14 is perfectly legal under federal law, local state laws vary.

Based on the full sized 870, the Tac-14 has a Magpul M-LOK instead of the traditional pump. The magazine can carry 4 +1 shells and the whole weapon weighs just over 5 lbs.
