Did you know a .50 BMG round fits almost perfectly inside a 12 gauge shotgun? Up until recently, I had no idea.

Did you know a .50 BMG round fits almost perfectly inside a 12 gauge shotgun? Up until recently, I had no idea. Then I saw a funny internet meme and I learned something.

Yes, they fit, but is that something you should really be doing? My first instinct is probably not, but I was still curious what would happen, so I look at YouTube and of course someone had already done it.

IraqVetern8888 post a video of them shooting a 12 gauge loaded with a .50 BMG. The first thing the video says is don’t try this at home which is probably a good idea. Here is the result.

It actually seemed to work pretty well. The gun survived the shot, but it did not seem very efficient with all the unburnt powder that was caught during the water bucket test.
My conclusion is just because you can doesn’t mean you should. You do not gain any extra power and accuracy is probably abysmal. Just stick to slugs and other shotgun ammo.
